Know where to hold the line.

Can your child read at his or her grade level? If the answer is no, hold on to your hat!

Reading, writing, and arithmetic is where we must hold the line. Parents with children should consider this to be their number one priority. No kidding, I mean it!

Somehow my parents blew it on this issue. They were good people, worked long hours, and provided our family with a home, vacations, and lots more. They saw my report cards.  They knew I was doing poorly as early as the second grade. However, for some reason that I will never know, this problem never made it to their top ten list of priorities. When I graduated from high school, I could not read and I could not spell.

Now I ask you, when is the last time you sat on the couch with your child and listened to them read.
