It’s
all about FOCUS.
Fifth and
sixth grade is when the schoolwork starts getting a little challenging. By the
sixth grade, I find myself studying my son’s math book to be able to check his
homework.
Now is the time to start teaching your kid how to focus. I
like the word focus because it sounds like a power thing. Although focusing and
paying attention are one and the same. When you present them to a twelve year
old you get completely different reactions
Talk to your kid about paying attention in class, and they
think you are just blowing hot air. Talk to your kid about focusing in class and
they think your helping them. The reason is that focusing is a power thing.
Think about it, paying attention is not something you can
brag about doing. But if you focused in class today, hay – that’s cool.
School Chat is about sharing the things we are doing right
and helping each other fix the stuff we are doing wrong. If you would like to
join in, write me a letter. Ask a question, or share a success story of your
own.
