A
Reward System that works.
Designing a reward system for a child is much simpler than
designing one for an adult. Just ask yourself one question. What does my child
want the most? For most of us the answer is “to play and play and play and
play”.
A reward system that works is one that deals with what they
want the most. My twelve year olds reward for good grades is more play time
and the reward for poor grades is less play time.
Here is what I do. If he gets all “A’s” on his report
card or progress report play time is till 8pm during school nights. Of course,
homework is always done right after school.
If he gets “A’s” and “B’s”, play time is over at 6pm on school
nights. If he gets “C’s”, play time is only on the weekend.
This system works like a charm.
